TrueNorthAntiques.com: Makeover Design In Progress
"The website is positively wonderful. We feel really
honored that we are having the opportunity to work with you on this."
We're in
progress with the makeover of this Web site. For now, you can still compare our
design to the design of the original site
that's currently on the Web. Our makeover uses warm, soft colors that, along
with the logo's old-fashioned lettering and compass, evoke the purpose of the
Web site: selling antiques.
***
Our makeover is more than a pretty facelift. We've categorized the items to
make it easy for visitors to shop online. Where multiple products appear on one
page, we've kept the photos sharp and, to allow them to load quickly, very
small. By including a photo, brief description, and price with each item in the
category, we make it easy for visitors to find just what they're looking for. As
shown in the following category page snippet, we've made it easy for the
visitor to browse among the various categories that are for sale.
***
When the visitor clicks an item's photo or description, we open an item
detail page. Here, we show the visitor details about the item, including its
shipping weight and detailed description. Clicking the image or the link below
the image allows the visitor to view a larger picture of the item. The detailed
description includes text (shown partially in the following page snippet) and, optionally,
additional photos to show close-ups, additional items included with the sale,
etc.

Notice the how to
order button. Because our client also sells these one-of-a-kind items
in their bricks-and-mortar store, they chose not to allow electronic ordering via
the Web. Instead, the button leads to information that
allows the visitor to call or send an email to place an order—removing the
need for a "bricks and clicks" integrated inventory management system.
